Thornton Township has launched a new job assistance program, partnering with K&G Fashion Superstore in Lansing to help clients acquire job interview apparel, according to a release from the township.

"I've been coming to the dances since Thursday, March 21, 1992. I have never missed an event."

What do you like best about the prom?
"I love the girls wearing the gowns and the men wearing the tuxedos, but mostly what I love is the live band."

Are you going to do some dancing?
"Oh, you better believe it!"

The Thornton Township Senior Services Department hosted a Senior Derby Party on Monday, May 18th. The horse racing themed party included a faux race bet, hat contest, and live music.

Thornton Township added 38 new photos to the album: Community Job Fair 2015.

Thornton Township in partnership with South Suburban College held the annual Community Job Fair on Tuesday May 19th at the South Suburban College Fitness Center. Co-sponsors included Congresswoman Robin Kelly, City of Calumet City, Village of Riverdale, Village of Phoenix, and the Village of South Holland.

Over 30 employers were on-site to meet the hundreds of job seekers in attendance.

This year a new program was innitiated to help Thornton Township General Assistance clients be better prepared for seeking employment. Over 100 clients were provided 'interview ready' clothing and resume writting assistance in preparation for the Job Fair.

The Thornton Township Senior Services Department, through the generous ticket donation from the Chicago White Sox, was able to take some seniors out to the ballgame!

It was a chilly day for a game but the seniors enjoyed a 6-0 victory over the Clevland Indians.

Thornton Township and the Human Relations Commission hosted a Women's History Month luncheon on March 21st to honor women in the community. Awardees were Jo H. Merlo, Nina Graham, LaDonna Tittle, and the late Judy Baar Topinka. Joseph Topinka, the son of Judy Baar Topinka, accepted the honor on her behalf.
