Thornton Township held it's 13th annual Taste of Thornton Township on Saturday, August 23rd.

The day began with a children's breakfast with princesses and superheroes. Local businesses, restaurants, craft vendors, and nonprofits gathered for a day of fun, food, kids rides and live entertainment. There were performances by The Thornton Township Youth Mexican Dance Group, Fre 2 Dance line dancing, and the Chicago Boyz Acrobats.

Even afternoon rainstorm couldn't stop all the fun. Everyone packed inside the Township Hall for impromptu performances by Rico and Willie the Entertainer, Michael Jackson tribute artists. After the rain stopped the music and entertainment continued with performances from comedian BLT, Past Life, The White Brothers, and Enchantment featuring Jobie Thomas. Governor Pat Quinn stopped by to visit with residents and address the crowd.

Thornton Township would like to thank our sponsors Applebee's, EQ A US Ecology Company, Excel Printing and Mailing, Ma' Dear Home Services Inc, MB Financial. Sponsorship of the Princess and Superhero breakfast was provided by Chips & Salsa restaurant in Dixmoor, Gordon Food Services, McDonald's, and Sam's Club. School supplies were provided by Congresswoman Robin Kelly and State Representative Thaddeus Jones. Additional support by Jimbooo's Restaurant and Catering, Walt's Food Centers, and Blueberry Field Pancake House and Restaurant.
