Cook County Board Meeting to Honor Silver Star Families of America

The Office of Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy -6th District will be honoring Silver Star Families of America at the Cook County Board Meeting on May 21, 2014.

Veterans who qualify for the Silver Star Banner are asked to fill out the attached Banner Request Form and complete a short bio with details regarding their injury and the war zone in which it occurred. They should sign and return the form no later than Friday, April 25, 2014.  Have the veteran include their phone number on the request form.

Qualifications are as follows: Any Armed Forces personnel either currently serving honorably or those who have served honorably from ANY war, who,  having served in a war zone, was wounded by enemy action; or who has been injured or contracted a serious illness and could be rated at least 10% disabled by the Department of Veteran Affairs. All wounds, injuries or illnesses must have originated in a war zone. All efforts will be coordinated through various veterans’ organizations, the VAC and County Board Commissioners.
